Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to know and explain the description of the religious character of students at SMA mandala trikora jayapura, (2) to know and explain the efforts of Muslim teachers in shaping the religious character of students at SMA mandala trikora jayapura.This type of research is a type of qualitative deskrti research, which uses the researcher method: The research instrument is the researcher as the key instrument, by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. Types and sources of data are primary data from teachers and students and secondary data from documents and books, data source retrieval techniques using purposive techniques and snowballing techniques, data validity analysis techniques using credibility tests, transferability tests, depandebility tests, confirmability and data analysis techniques using data reduction, data display, and verification. The results of the research are: (1) The description of the character of students at SMA Mandala Trikora Jayapura has different characters, among which there are students when spoken to directly respond well or are more closed, there are many students who respect their teachers but there are also those who lack respect and consider it a common thing (2) The efforts of Islamic religion teachers to shape the religious character of students at SMA Mandala Trikra Jayapura are by familiarizing and giving examples of how to show good morals by instructing them to speak, act, and do good in accordance with what is expected both in accordance with Islamic teachings, respect for religion, provide examples that foster confidence in the duties of students, and recognize students who have good religious behavior and punish those with bad behavior.
